The Sovereign Recognized with 2026 Most Enhanced Award

New + Found is proud to share that The Sovereign has received a 2026 Most Enhanced Award from the Landmarks Association of St. Louis, celebrating the transformation of a historic property into a new anchor for live music in the Grand Center Arts District.
The building’s story began more than a century ago. Designed by prominent St. Louis architect Preston Bradshaw, 3306 Washington Boulevard opened in 1922 as the Beckley-Ralston Building along the city’s bustling “Auto Row.” Over the decades, it housed automotive sales and service businesses before beginning a nearly 50-year chapter as Pavyer Printing Machine Works.
As Grand Center evolved into a hub for arts and culture, the building presented another opportunity for reinvention.
Working with the Kranzberg Arts Foundation and Old Rock House operator Tim Weber, New + Found joined affiliate companies Lawrence Group and Integrate Construction Partners to transform the property into The Sovereign, a 17,000-square-foot, 1,200-capacity concert venue.
The redevelopment embraced the building’s existing strengths rather than erasing them. Its soaring central warehouse and mezzanine became the concert hall, its historic automotive garage door was repurposed as a performer loading dock, and its distinctive 100-foot terracotta façade was preserved. New bars, a stage, VIP area, greenrooms and guest spaces prepare the building for its next century of use.
Since opening in 2025, The Sovereign has added another destination to Grand Center’s thriving arts community while preserving a tangible piece of St. Louis’ industrial history.
